Faith Formation

Each year at my church I go to faith formation every Sunday. But we realized I have an extra hour and thirty minutes before my class now that I am in sixth grade. My sister Catie is the assistant teacher for the fifth grade class. I decided to ask Catie if i can help her class. The actual teacher is a family friend too. She asked him, and he said, "Ofcourse." Now every Sunday I aide with their class for faith formation. I like their class, it's always funny. I loved his class last year.

Getting ready to serve at 9am Mass

I'm now also an alter server. I normally hold the the cross. I really like alter serving; it is more fun doing something in Mass other then sitting down and paying attention. In my case every Sunday I go to Mass, help at class, then go to mine. It's kind of an advantage too, while helping I hear what they are doing and in the other class we do a bit of what they do, but then we do the other page in our text.

VBS at Incarnation Church

VBS stands for Vacation Bible School. This year for the first time I was an aide to a leader at a station.  Every day the kids were in groups and went to different stations. My station was the movie station. There were many funny things that happened throughout the week. Let me tell you about one time. There was a kid named Jackson and his friend Jacob. (Jackson is four and Jacob is 8 but seems younger).

One day when they were at our station, Ms. Philomena our leader, was telling them that kids in Africa have bugs that can bite kids and get kids in Africa sick or even that it’s deadly. So she was telling them what it feels like to be a kid in Africa. Then she was saying have you ever been scared? Jacob raised his hand and told her his story and afterwards she said, “that is scary Joseph!” So Jacob said, “My name’s Jacob and pointed to Jackson and said, “He’s Joseph”. So Jackson said, “I’m not Joseph!” So they told Ms. Philomena after all what their names were, and we all laughed.
(This week as part of VBS we vollected enough money to buy mosquito nets for over 100 kids and we’re going to send it to Africa soon.)

The Black Tip Shark

Yesterday was a great day at the beach with my family; we were all fishing except my mom. Everybody caught a fish except my dad. Caren and I were fishing at the moment and everybody else was in the water relaxing. We were still fishing when Catie said, "Hey we're at the sandbar." Then she told us "Caren, Zac come here this is the sandbar". So I came first while Caren was fishing there for another minute. Finally Caren and I were fishing on the sandbar when she gets a bite.  She looked down and there was a Black Tip Shark.

So we start swimming and running back to shore. Luckily it didn't chase after us. So my mom and Catie stayed on the sand relaxing after that, but my dad was after that shark.  He got this small fish that I found to use as bait, and we cut it up to pieces. Also the shark was only a baby shark. Later Caren tried fishing for the shark with the fish bait. It was weird because my dad would be still fishing on the sandbar and from time to time he'll point right on front of him saying, in a calm voice, "The shark is in front of me". Also he would warn us when the shark's  coming our way. Caren was still fishing at the shallow water and I was next to her, then she gets a monster bite by the Black Tip Shark. It was so big it broke the line. It was cool, surprisingly not creepy. Also it was in front of me about 10 times. So after about 35 minutes they stopped fishing and went back to our beach house. But it was so cool looking at a shark in action biting the line and being in front of me so many times. That day was so cool!
